The Mint 400

/>March 5, 2017 Primm Nevada. With chilly temperatures at the 6 am start of the 116 mile course, first to race is the Limited Class, and with the Unlimited Class starting a scheduled start of 12:30. With an actual start of 1:15 pm. All i could think was this is a beautiful day for a desert race. With no wind for most of the morning the dust hung heavy in the air and gave a veiled curtain to the drivers has they came upon the hair pin turn that put them into a stretch of desert race way called the “Rockets.” The temperature held only into the mid 70’s with a stiff south wind starting at noon.
Resumed in 2008 by the Martelli brothers Matt and Joshua respectively, now a premier event in desert racing with sponsorships by BF Goodrich Tires, Polaris RZR, celebrities, with this year Jay Leno, driving a Toyota Tacoma, and the Golden Nugget. Originally began by Del Webb’s Mint Hotel and Casino, The Mint 400 has now become a full week of events. Starting with the race car parade the full length of Las Vegas Blvd.

Rob MacCachren, Las Vegas native, Limited Class #11 took 1st.
